Vintage HI-LUXE Porcelain Hand Painted Espresso Demitasse Cup & Saucer 12pc Set

This is a lovely vintage porcelain espresso or demitasse cup and saucer set made by Hi-Luxe Japan. The set includes six cups and six matching saucers, featuring a hand-painted Victorian or Rococo-style scene with gold trim in a lusterware finish. This is in lovely condition with no breaks, chips, cracks, or crazing. These come with the original box and packaging although there has been some damage to the box and packaging over the years with significant wear on the left side of the box. Fortunately, the damage to the packaging did not effect the contents which are in impeccable condition.

Fun Facts: Demitasse means half-cup.” The cups are, typically, half the size of a regular coffee cup, holding two to three ounces of beverage. The smaller size facilitates the drinking of strong, after-dinner, specialty coffees, such as espresso, cappuccino, and Turkish coffee. Tea may be served in demitasse cups, but they are really meant for coffee.
