Vintage original 1953 linen-backed & restored film poster insert (14”x36”) for “‘From Here to Eternity”, a romantic WW II military melodrama about soldiers stationed in Hawaii before Pearl Harbor, their many romances & conflicts, & deaths of several principals. The film won 8 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (Frank Sinatra), Best Supporting Actress (Donna Reed). Burt Lancaster & Montgomery Clift were nominated for Best Actor, Deborah Kerr was nominated for Best Actress.
Prior to linen-backing, there were tears at upper left edge that did not affect image, minor separation in right edge of the horizontal fold, & some paper loss in border of upper right that did not affect image. Restoration was done on one tear located at the top around top around the letters “CO” in the word courage, and a second tear located near the arm of character smoking. Also restoration was done to some missing color along the top fold. Restored poster displays beautifully!
